Shakespeare hätte Folgendes über uns geschrieben:
„A Rhapsody of Five – The Lay of the Blues“
To strike a chord of four is sport and mirth,
But five – oh five! – dost conjure heaven and earth.
For when the strain be blues and boogie bold,
Let not thy heart in silence dwell, but thine ears unfold!
There walk they forth – five lords of sound and soul,
With nimble hand and fire-fed goal.
Who once hath seen their artful revelry,
Sees not the Blues as was, but as shall be.
They dance on strings of time, from old to new,
With speed that burns, or grooving soft as dew.
Their music charms both sage and youth alike,
A spell, cast deep, where rhythm’s thunders strike.
These minstrels wild – aye, noble knaves of note! –
Do brew a draught in zwölf Takt measure gloat,
Distilled from Delta's mournful moan,
From New Orleans to Memphis grown.
Since autumn’s breath in ninety-eight did blow,
They've sowed their song in festival and show:
In Gronau’s fields, by Hilden’s stage,
In Meppen's halls and Idstein’s page.
Through cities proud – from Essen to Berlin –
Their tones hath wandered, danced, and dared to win.
Whether amidst the gambling lights of Hohensyburg fair,
Or in Cologne, where Tanzbrunnen scents the air –
Their power lies in mirth and might combined,
With rhythm bold and melody refined.
Lo! When they play, the very ground takes part,
No foot stands still, no chill remains in heart.
This Blues – not mere lament, but joy and flame –
Is sorcery of sound, and bears their name.
Thus mark my word, dear gentlefolk and friend:
Where Groove & Snoop their harmonies do send,
There shall thy soul with music’s grace be crowned,
And every silence with sweet song be drowned.
Am 23.5. in Bochum!
